KTA 6: Legal and ethical considerations
PRS Licence- Making sure this is in place so that musicians/record labels get paid royalties for songs that are broadcast. This is used so the rights holders receive payments in exchange of licenses for the product. A broadcaster would need this so they can use a artists product on their shows without getting in trouble with copyright.
Copyright and ownership- if content is presented as original (this could be use of imagery and graphics in backgrounds during presenter exposition. Broadcasters would need to consider content like music and imagery when they consider copyright.
Health and safety- when filming for a camera crew, presenters. There is legislation (by law) place to protect those in the media (why we also do recces, risk assessments). This could result in serious injury if not taken seriously for example lifting heavy equipment the correct way and wearing helmets in case of falling objects.
Contracts of work- model release, location release forms so the artist knows where the product will be recorded
Media regulation- music videos are regulated by the BBFC. This is to ensure that the content in music videos is suitable for the audience it is intended for. For example if the video is aimed at a younger audience then it cannot contest foul language or scenes of sexual or violent nature.
