KTA 5- Researching sources about locations and studio setup for NMNTV

A primary research method that can used for information about studio set ups and location for NMNTV could be an interview with a professional who sets up studios for filming. This will help you gather information on how to setup and layout the studio so the right scenes can be filmed. Also, I can interview someone who arranges the locations for filming so i can find out what the processes are and what is required to ensure you have a safe location to film in. You could also do contextual analysis so you analyse a clip and gather information by making your own judgements. The clip would be about filming locations and studio setup as it holds key and relevant information. Finally, you could do a questionnaire that contains questions like what do you think should be in a filming studio? or where should a news programme be shot?  A secondary research method could a book written by a professional as they have the experiences and knowledge about studios and location of filming. This will...

Analysing the content of a music TV channel news programme

The clip i will be analysing is from MTV news where Bradley Simpson from the Vamps shows his house In this clip, Bradley Simpson is wearing casual clothes as he is in his house which shows he is comfortable where he lives. Also, throughout the clip, props were used like a guitar and awards he has won which shows the audience that they are very important to him. The clip is quite bright as this is a place where he is comfortable and happy.  At the start of the clip when Bradley opens the door, there is a close up shot so you can easily see his facial expressions and see he his happy in his house. There were also plenty of medium shots where you can see the room so you can see what he has in his house. There was a high angle shot when he was with his dog so the audience can see the bond between them. Obviously, throughout the clip you can hear Bradley talking but there is also non-diegetic sound in the background between transitions and also to add effect. This makes it more interest...

Sponsorship and Advertising

Secondary research: News article https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/amazon-music-sponsor-mtv-europe-music-awards/1663049 The advantages for this is that the information is easily accessible for the audience and it provides key information about the sponsorship. The disadvantages are it is harder for a smaller company to get larger sponsorships. Social media  The advantages for this is that it gets a lot of publicity as most people are on social media meaning more people will see it. A disadvantage for this is that the information given may be bias towards the brand.

Viewing figures and distribution of music TV programmes

MTV- Catfish has 215k viewers and audiences can access this via Kerrang- Slam down Rock Floorfillers has 7.6k viewers Spotlight TV- Memory Lane has 23.8k viewers

Task 5- 3 Primary sources

One primary source of information is to interview an expert in music tv for example Allan Goodman. An advantage to this is that it is one on one so you are getting the relevant information straight away.  A disadvantage to this is that the person may not be willing to be interviewed. You could also watch a show and analyse its conventions. An advantage to this is that it is easily accessible. A disadvantage for this is that the information may be out of date if the show is old You can give surveys or hold a focus groups for your target audience. An advantage to this is that it is easy to distribute the questionnaires. A Disadvantage is that it may be difficult to take the information if you get a lot of answers

Task 4- 3 Secondary sources

Andrew Goodwin wrote a book called Dancing in the Distraction Factory that provides information on the content of music videos. The advantage of this is that it is coming from a expert professional who can share his experiences which hold high value. A disadvantage to this is that it is only one persons perspective so there could be points he has missed out that he hasn't experienced. Another secondary source of information is a news article for example of music video content for example mtv/news. This will give the audience information on the different aspects of music tv. An advantage of this is that it is up to date and relevant for the current time. A disadvantage to this is that you need the internet to use the site  Finally, social media is another secondary source of information for example Jesse Nelson twitter account. An advantage to this is that it is easy to access and there is a lot of up to date information. A disadvantage is that the information may be bias.
